Iquique’s excellent prospects of becoming a port service platform to Brazil were one of the aspects highlighted by ITI Management Chief, Jorge Oyarce. The prospective service areas would be in the territory of Matto Grosso do Sul and Cuiabá.
On the occasion, the executive said “as a port the only way to continue to grow and enhance its development is to seek new markets through the bi-oceanic corridor; moreover, a case example was witnessing in the dry dock of the Port of Cuiabá (Mato Grosso) the downloading of a Brazilian truck whose good came from the port of Iquique. This demonstrates the feasibility of using this city as an alternative export and import to and from Brazil."
The trade mission attended by ITI’s executives aimed to boost trade by using the bi-oceanic corridor linking the city of Iquique, and southern regions of Brazil via Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, Bolivia in addition to widely emphasizes on the benefits of the development productive alliances between this two countries.
This commercial trade mission took place between July 4th and10th, and was attended by logistic services companies operating in the First Region.
The focus of such mission is to expand markets and reduce Iquique’s great dependence on Bolivia through its Duty Free Zone. To fulfill this purpose, ITI count on modern technology, high efficiency, and expertise in handling containers.
