ITI reaches an agreement with its workers after collective bargaining

Date: August 2010

Workers at Iquique Terminal Internacional had a complete agreement in the framework of a collective bargaining with the company, reported the head of human resources of the company, Cecilia Lira.

The negotiation covers a period of three years beginning next August. These involved salaried staff and also workers in the cranes and operators in the port terminal.

The main aspects of this agreement included transportation bonds, meals, holidays and scholarships for employees’ children. It also introduced a new educational bonus paid in March and a bonus awarded for the early closure of these negotiations.

ITI’s CEO, Fernando Ugarte, highlighted the good atmosphere in which negotiations took place and the common efforts from both sides to bring these to a happy ending.

"This agreement allows us to plan the future with confidence and to focus our efforts on the challenges posed by the port business which is becoming more competitive," he said.
