After the fourth terminal crane Gottwald (Post Panamax type) arrived to Iquique in February, the first containers transference between vessel and pier finished.
This was informed by the Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) CEO, Mr. Fernando Ugarte, who provided background about this recent purchase for this Chilean north terminal.
This fourth pier crane was an investment close to US$ 5 million.
Regarding this, the company cranes and equipments chief, Mr. Luis Perez, said “with this equipment we hope to improve significantly the productivity. Purchasing this crane will satisfy the demand of port services for last generation vessels”.
