Cruiser's Seminar begins today in Iquique

Iquique annually receives a smaller number of cruisers taking into account that in our neighboring city, Arica, in high season arrive more than at our port. Therefore, Tarapacá Corporation (former development agency), the Southern Cone Port Corporation and the Port of Iquique. EPI, started today a seminar on "How to Attract Industry Cruisers to Chile, Supply and Demand".

The meeting taking place in the Hall "Juan Antonio Ruz" at the former customs building, from 09:30 pm today, with the participation of the general manager of Valparaiso Port Terminal, Juan Esteban Bilbao and Claudio Nast, General Director DMC, one of the leading cruise operators in Chile.

The opening will be in charge of the regional director Sernatur, Felipe Perez Contreras.

During the 2011-2012 season, Iquique received six cruisers, unlike the previous period where there were 4 cruisers arrivals. While for the season 2012-2013, is expected to receive seven cruisers.

The cruise industry has moved in the last ten years more than 300 million people worldwide and is considered one of the entertainment and safest ways to travel.

Around the world we talk about the positives numbers, even considering the past events that could bring down the cruise ships, as was the attack on the Twin Towers, the war in Iraq and the crash of Harmony Coast. As evidence of this growth is expected in 2012 a total of 17 million passengers and the launch of fourteen new ships that can carry up to 3,000 people per vessel, said the Manager of Business Port of Iquique, Hector Mardones.

Program

The seminar program began with the accreditation of participants, then will speak and give greetings the mayor (s) Anibal Calderon, after exposure Sernatur national director. To continue with the presentation of the General Manager of Valparaiso Port Terminal and the presentation of Claudio Nast.
