ITI Chairman: 'We Are Called To Be A Leader Port'

"The port of Iquique should become the most important terminal in northern Chile, between Callao and Valparaiso Region, for that we are making significant investments", said President of the Board of Iquique Terminal Internacional S.A., Alejandro Garcia-Huidobro in the anniversary dinner to commemorate 12 years of corporate life. It also stressed that to meet this challenge requires a large commitment of all employees.

"The port market is increasingly competitive, therefore we must provide maximum satisfaction to our customers, we must be a safe port, without strikes that end up affecting everyone," he said.

At the time the lead manager of Iquique Terminal Internacional announced the main projects to be undertaken from the second half of this year, the dredging of site 4, which will allow the arrival of bigger vessels, wharf’s expanse to assist ships of greater length and the acquisition of gantry cranes, which exhibit a higher speed container transferences. The works will require an investment of about U.S. $ 40 million.

As part of the anniversary dinner was given in recognition of nine workers achieving 10 years of service and 25 who have completed 5 years in the company.
