ITI Sponsors 'Lobito Marino' Kindergarten

Date: 2012/06/12

A strategic alliance with the aim that children from Lobito Marino Kindergarten can develop better educational activities, established Kindergartens Board "JUNJI-of Tarapacá Region with the port company Iquique Terminal Internacional S.A.

The project is in its initial phase and for now, assessing the real needs of kindergarten, whether in infrastructure, training material or tools designed to enhance and improve the quality of education of 183 children attending this kindergarten. The initiative is part of the project undertaken by the port company through the campaign "ITI Helps", which purpose is mainly to support an institution under the criteria of high social vulnerability.

In this context, workers and the company that will sponsor this kindergarten, have formed a committee to visit the educational establishment in order to monitor both the needs and the contributions the company will make.

As explained Fernando Ugarte, ITI’s general manager, "since we arrived to Iquique in 2000, our policy has been working for port development and thus contribute to the growth of the region and its people, and under this policy, now we are committed to this future which represents children and in particular this kindergarten’s children.

Therefore, it seems important to share our identity with an institution like Junji, who watches and cares for children, since they are the future of our country and in that sense, it seems correct to contribute with a grain of sand in their education and development.

"While Francisca Garcia, Director, of Lobito Marino Kindergarten says “this alliance has a special meaning, because this project is extremely important since it is one of the oldest gardens in the city, so any resources allow us to modernize the establishment, clean it, paint it or get additional benefits as training materials which will be welcome for our children.
