Fecha: 14/11/2012

“Pulling down Myths" is the theme that will present tomorrow in Santa Cruz de la Sierra Bolivia, commercial manager of Iquique Terminal Internacional Jorge Dumont.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the great advantages presented by the port terminal for foreign trade of the neighboring country if they operate through Iquique.

A recent study reports that up to U$ 300 per container and 20 days less to arrive to their destination are some of the savings would accrue to Bolivian foreign trade agents if they choose to operate through the Port of Iquique, according to a study conducted by public and private entities in this country.

"Iquique is an excellent alternative for Bolivian cargo both export and import, currently has advantages according to a series of indicators, including the land route and the amount of shipping companies operating through ITI, which is the terminal concessionary of the port of Iquique".

That's one of the conclusions resulting from a study conducted by the National Chamber of Brokers Bolivia, the Institute of Foreign Trade and Customs and State University San Andrés, all of them, neighboring entities.

In other sections the study warns it is necessary to clear up some barriers to foreign ministry level to eliminate minor problems that remain. It's just that one of the objectives of the meeting with operators in that country.

The supply of shipping lines in the port of Iquique to Asia is bigger, otherwise the cargo loaded in Iquique usually don´t need transshipment at intermediate ports, so transit times are reduced and freight costs that can be achieved are cheaper than the flow to Asia from Arica "notes the study.

One of the most important aspects that changes the scenario from previous years is related to the excellent state today presents Huara-Oruro route, with an almost straight path paved with high quality standards, which allow carriers to save operating costs

Nevertheless it is required to present the current state of the route, as there is ignorance about it.
