Tomorrow will call at the port the largest vessel ever berthed in the country: the MSC Ines.

The container ship belongs to the line Mediterranean Shipping Company, the second largest worldwide after-Maersk, has an overall length of 348.50 meters, a width of 42.80 meters and has a capacity for 9000 133 TEUs (unit of measurement of capacity of shipping containers), so it is considered Post Panamax class.

In recent years, ten years, although the Port of Iquique has not been increased significantly the number of ships called-475 in 2001-559 in 2011 -, tons transferred have doubled, which is explained by the growing size of the ships, as the one that will arrive on Friday with a capacity of 107.551 tons gross register or TRG.
