Welcome road works

Mining versions advertised in our region, along with the decided management of Zofri entrepreneurs, Zofrisa investments and the ever closer possibility to make a bi-oceanic corridor, foresee a boom in the near future, and clearly you would expect a growth in the economy of the region.

It is therefore vital to improve road infrastructure in order to avoid generating bottlenecks that involve enormous inefficiencies and loss of competitiveness of all economic agents.

Hence we feel that is very good news the government's announcement regarding the improvement of two major pathways to Iquique, where investment announced will be about of 230 million dollars in order to expand and improve the standard of Route 16 (Iquique-Humberstone) and Route 1, from Diego Aracena Airport to the area of Bajo Molle.

All this economic activity also influence and will continue influencing the movement of cargo and in special of containers made through our port and therefore, port should have a positive relationship with the city and the areas that generate these loads, this linkage is achieved in a major proportion, with good road infrastructure.

In this context, and where we expect to be sooner than later, it is inserted an improvement project of access to the Port of Iquique, which will generate a structuring road axis connecting the port of Iquique with Zofri and north access of the city, creating a whole road network, which covers the entry and exit flows to and from the industrial and commercial area.

Therefore we welcome the investments along with those which are already being made in the port of Iquique because enable this Regional economy to keep growing and together we will be preparing our city for what is coming, which is the development for all.
