EPI opened new toilets for stevedores Iquique project was managed by collaboration between executives and unions

In order to improve working conditions of Terminal 1 "Molo" Port of Iquique, Empresa Portuaria Iquique opened on Thursday morning February 7th, an infrastructure project that gave new bathrooms and showers to terminal operators.

The facilities, which include porcelain floors, ensuring greater hygiene conditions- button keys to prevent water loss, different bathrooms for men and women, and a total renovation of the sanitary fixtures, such as showers and toilets were delivered to employees by the General Manager of EPI Leiton Alfredo, who said that this is part of the commitment made by the company.

"The port's success is due to its employees, who are the ones who have take the run-up to be where we are, so it is essential for us to have quality conditions so they can do their work with the greatest possible comfort" the executive said.

The Federation of Temporary Workers Union and Contractors of Port of Iquique (Fesiport), through its President Hugo Villalobos, appreciated the efforts and the relationship that the company has taken with workers.

"Anything related with an improvement in the conditions of the activity is positive. In this case, as Federation we have been heard and that has led us to happy terms as to obtain better working conditions, such as toilets, rest areas, safety features, etc.. "Said the leader.

Finally, Leiton said there are some projects to be implemented, such as a second stage of the bathrooms. "In the second stage, all bathrooms within the primary zone of the terminal will have these features, further improving working conditions," he concluded.
