Ultraport tries a solution in port conflict

UltraPort, the company in charge of the operations of the port of Mejillones, IS facing a workers strike grouped in the Union of Contract and Temporary Workers which extents for 10 days. At a meeting to be held this afternoon the company will offer a new proposal collation assignment in continuous working day, which point led to the strike of activities from yesterday afternoon spread to other ports.

The company reports that in the meeting they will present a package of measures, counting with the participation of the Secretary of Labor, Bruno Baranda, company executives and leaders of labor unions.

Ultraport today reported that 75% of workers in the firm, from four of the five unions that work in Puerto Angamos, are against the strike and hope to return as soon as possible to their job functions.
